Although Montenegro is one Europe’s smallest countries there is certainly no shortage of pristine beach resorts and magnificent landscapes. The history of Montenegro is one that is certainly chequered. It was the Venetians who christened the area Monte Negro which relates to the incredible architecture of the picturesque coastal towns such as Perast and Kotor.

One of the main attractions is the beautiful coastal town of Budva which is famous for its awe inspiring historic old quarter which was carefully renovated after an earthquake in 1979. Years ago this stretch of coastline was known as the St Tropez of the Adriatic, where both celebrities and royalty chose to enjoy the delightful atmospheric scenery. Today it has re-established itself as a haven for good looks and glamour with the sympathetic restoration of Sveti Stefan, a collection of once fisherman cottages. It is now run as a luxury hotel with exemplary facilities on offer. The Bay of Kotor is also a sight to behold and is the back drop for the infamous Porto Montenegro which now is home to the exclusive Purobeach resort. Guests can enjoy unrivalled views of the stunning harbour whilst relaxing in the sublime infinity pool.
