Princess motor yacht service arrived in Turnchapel, Plymouth

Turnchapel, Plymouth.

Princess Motor Yacht Sales (PMYS) has always prided itself on providing yacht owners with years of trouble-free sailing through offering a comprehensive after-care service. From its heritage, long tradition and vast experience within the motoring industry, the company understands that this is often the best way to maintain a longstanding relationship with customers.

In recent years, Princess Motor Yacht Sales has invested heavily to achieve this level of excellence and now has more than 40 service engineers employed directly throughout the business. The objective in the near future – to be able to offer service and maintenance to yacht owners six days per week, as well as launching a 24 hour hotline for technical advice.

The next logical step in achieving this objective was investing in a brand new dedicated service centre, and so… Turnchapel was born.

Princess Motor Yacht Sales took over the building back in January this year. Interestingly, it originally belonged to the Royal Navy as the home of the 539 Assault Squadron, the Royal Marines’ amphibious landing section! The section has now moved its base, letting the team from PMYS move in.

Converting the entire ground floor of the building into a state of the art service centre including meeting space, extensive workshop and showroom to display essential yachting extras such as ribs, dinghies and variety of other equipment, has translated into an investment of nearly half a million pounds.

While most servicing will take place on site, there is also ample space in the service yard and a new pontoon for additional berthing, where more intensive maintenance work can be carried out. The investment has meant that Princess Motor Yacht Sales now has a dedicated hub from which all servicing and maintenance can be co-ordinated, resulting in an increasingly efficient service for yacht owners.

Commenting on the Turnchapel development, Commercial Director Max Whale, explains; “We take servicing and yacht maintenance very seriously. Yachts are by their nature, highly sophisticated and they operate in all elements. To keep them running, they need expert technical knowledge and a comprehensive, all-encompassing regime. Turnchapel is part of our drive to keep improving our service operation, and ensure our customers receive the best service possible. We are extremely excited about the new development and we are looking forward to its opening in the coming months.”

The building work is due for completion in May, just in time for the busy yachting season.
