Princess Yachts nació en 1965, hace ya casi cincuenta años, en un pequeño taller industrial de la calle Newport, en Plymouth. Fundada por un antiguo oficial de la marina, David King, Princess ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en uno de los fabricantes de yates a motor más importantes y sofisticados del mundo. Con más de dos mil empleados que trabajan en seis enormes astilleros ubicados en Plymouth y sus alrededores, Princess construye más de trescientos yates al año.

La tradición desempeña un papel fundamental en el éxito de la compañía. David King, quien ocupa el cargo de presidente, todavía dirige la compañía y Newport Street sigue siendo el astillero principal, que ahora se ha ampliado a la totalidad de la calle además de haber ganado terreno a la ría adyacente. El ingeniero naval, mundialmente reconocido, Bernard Olesinski ha estado supervisando durante más de treinta años los diseños del casco y de los elementos de superestructura de cada nuevo yate Princess, que culmina con la tecnología de planificación híbrida súper-eficiente de los últimos modelos.

Al mismo tiempo que se beneficia de su valiosa tradición, Princess Yacht International sigue siendo una compañía con claras miras hacia el futuro.

Tras la obtención del Queen’s Award a la exportación en 1998, la compañía continúa con su expansión mundial hasta el punto de que hoy día se exporta el 90% de su producción. Princess Yachts fue la primera compañía europea en obtener la ISO 14001 por su control de calidad y todos los modelos de hasta 25 metros tienen la RINA Green Plus.

El 80% de cada Princess se construye dentro. La construcción mixta y tecnología de infusión de resina de precisiones vanguardistas reducen el peso incrementando la eficiencia de consumo y el rendimiento al mismo tiempo que se maximiza el volumen interior. Las superestructuras, al ser más robustas y resistentes, permiten la inclusión de más superficie acristalada que proporciona a los interiores más luz y vistas más panorámicas. Los cascos de Princess en V profunda ofrecen la mejor navegación, y garantizan la seguridad y comodidad de invitados y tripulantes.

Incluso las técnicas de construcción empleadas están a la vanguardia de la tecnología, sin apenas emisiones de gas estireno ni en el área de trabajo ni en el entorno local, por ejemplo.

Cada aspecto de la concepción, diseño, construcción, y en última instancia uso, de cada yate Princess, se encuentra en la frontera de lo que hoy día es posible.

The Princess V58 Open received the award in the category for “Sportscruisers over 45ft”, for “delivering a truly intoxicating mix of style, sophistication and speed, with a party boat deck layout.” Stylish and powerful, the Princess V58 Open was first launched at the Southampton Boat Show in 2015.

Described as a “boat that doesn’t put a foot wrong in any department, with a genuinely entertaining driving experience and a top speed of 35 knots”, the Princess 75 Motor Yacht came top in the category for “Flybridges over 55ft”. The prestigious prize was presented to Chris Gates, Managing Director of Princess Yachts International, at the Awards dinner, held in London on 9th January 2017.

The first Princess 35M, Antheya III, has claimed the top prize at Boat International’s World Superyacht Awards in the Semi-Displacement & Planing Two Deck Motor Yacht category. Boat International said: “The judges particularly admired her exterior design, which incorporated a variety of functional areas in which to relax and dine, as well as her contemporary yet ageless interior. Additionally, the judges found a high quality of construction and excellent technical, service and crew areas. A well balanced yacht indeed.” Antheya III is the second Princess M Class to claim a prestigious World Superyacht Award with the first Princess 40M, Imperial Princess, winning in the Three Deck Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts category in 2013.
